This reminds me of the song “Love is like a magic penny” where it says “love is something if you give it away… you end up having more.” I think kindness is like that too. Sometimes it’s hard to see the good stuff amind the white noise of negativity in the media, but there’s so much kindness out there, we just have to “tune in.” Here’s to kindness and lots more of it!

Enough with the Single Shaming
I remember when I wrote my online dating profile, I said I wanted someone to “complement me not complete me.” I was single long after all my friends had paired off and if I’d had a dollar for every time someone said one of these statements to me, I’d probably be a millionaire by now! I know though, as annoying as my friends’ well meaning comments might have been, they were always just that, well meaning. I think being single and being in a couple are both special and fulfilling, they’re just different.
The lost narrative of women
I’ve never thought about that, it’s almost like we’re conditioned to see a stereotypical hero. You’re totally right we do need heroes of all kinds because in real life, everyday heroes can be male or female. If only that reality was reflected in the media and in the movies.
On Being Australian
We recently visited the Female Factory in Hobart and where we learned about the first female convicts in Australia – it was both fascinating and confronting. I love the diversity of culture in Australia and as a “new” Australian I feel very blessed to be able to call Australia home. I really am living the dream.

Oh what a list! I’ve heard such amazing things about Big Magic, it’s top of my To-Read list. Magda’s book also looks great and a sI’ve become a bit fascinated with women and crime since I visited the Female Factory in Tassie, Last Woman Hanged is calling my name. So many books I want to read and so little time in which to read them!
